HEADROOM
Character Information

Babushka

A quiet, monotonous man with a liking for cuisine to be as fresh as possible. Enjoys sticking to routine and is a relatively picky person. One would be able to gauge his eccentric nature simply by his choice in fashion.

His demeanor and way of going about things borders on impractical or absurd, but he likes it that way. He is deeply compassionate, though in his own way, and enjoys preparing food for others. He occasionally has dinner with Lottie.

Lottie

Her birthmark, a target in the center of her face that resembles the scales of a milk snake, led her down the path of religious fanaticism. As a child, her family took its resemblance to the reptile as a sign from God, and Lottie internalized the cruelty that resulted from that.

She is described as brash, loud, and absentminded. Quick to anger as quickly as she is to calm, she seems to always hold an expression of clenched teeth and often finds herself drinking alcohol to excess.

In life, she felt as if her only purpose was to be consumed and die. Having accomplished as such, but then being subsequently revived, she took her revival as a divine rebirth. Seems to enjoy eating dinner with Babushka every once in a while.

HEADROOM (2025) is a short, web-based visual novel that follows the scenario of a young man, named Babushka, butchering a creature to be eaten, only to find something inside.

This was the first of many ideas I've had over the years that I actually sat down and finished. The original concept of HEADROOM I kind of stole from myself ... Back when I was maybe 14, I made a comic about a kid in an apocalyptic world cutting open this big dog to eat, only to find this woman dressed up in a halloween costume inside. She was revived in the same fashion told in HEADROOM.

It was kind of supposed to be comedic, because the story of how she ended up getting eaten was that her finger was bitten by a dog she tried to pet, and it shocked her so bad she died and was presumably consumed. That was a setup for a joke, though, because it wasn't the scary huge dog she was found in the stomach of that bit her, but a small cute puppy that came crawling out of the cavity of the scary dog's stomach (like a matryoshka). She was not scared of the huge dog, but was scared of the sweet puppy.

That comic ended up getting separated into 3 different ideas now, and HEADROOM was one of those things ... some characters from that comic still survive today, though I don't know if they're all that recognizable anymore. Anyways, HEADROOM being the first story I sat down and actually put effort in and finished makes it hold a little special place in my heart, even if I think it's kind of rough. I hope you enjoy playing/reading it...!
